WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Camber is recruiting an Engagement Manager based in Nigeria. This is a country-embedded management role with significant responsibility for stakeholder engagement and developing and implementing strategies contextualized to Nigeria’s policy, institutional, and implementation realities.

As an Engagement Manager with Camber, you will work under guidance of senior leadership to design and support strategies, coalitions, and programs to improve health and social impact outcomes in Nigeria and across the African continent. You will work in collaborative partnership with national or sub-national ministries and agencies, in-country implementing partners, development agencies, philanthropies, and multilateral offices.

The role is primarily based in Abuja or Lagos, with regular domestic travel and occasional international travel depending on project needs.

Key responsibilities for the Engagement Manager position include: 

  • Lead the design and delivery of client engagements to provide strategic insights, help clients define and execute on their strategic and programmatic priorities, and deliver positive social impact.
  • Support multi-stakeholder engagement across government, donors, implementing partners and civil society to align priorities and advance share objectives.
  • Structure and develop client deliverables that are logically sound and analytically rigorous.
  • Oversee and manage high performance teams of consultants, contractors, and delivery partners to deliver project outcomes on time and on budget.
  • Mentor and support the professional development of team members.
  • Support business development, recruiting, equity and belonging, and other priority initiatives within Camber.
  • Support the growth of Camber’s Nigeria hub by bringing local insights, networks, and context to firm strategy and operations.

The following qualifications are required for this position:

  • Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), Master’s in Public Health (MPH), or similar advanced degree
  • 8+ years of professional experience in strategy, policy, global health, or development, including demonstrated experience leading engagements with government institutions, development partners, or social impact programs in Nigeria
  • Proven ability to author exceptional C-Suite ready strategy documents
  • Experience providing leadership and managing team performance in complex client-service engagements
  • Deep trusting relationships with in-country partners, such as national or sub-national ministries and agencies, implementing partners, development agencies, multilateral offices, or philanthropies
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills across diverse contexts
  • Full proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; understanding of the opportunities and limitations of utilizing AI in the social impact space
  • Legal authorization to work in Nigeria (Camber cannot sponsor work visas)
  • English language fluency
  • Intellectual curiosity, humility, self-awareness, and desire to be on a journey of continual improvement and innovation

Additional desired qualifications include:

  • 2+ years of experience at a strategy consulting firm (McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Dahlberg, MonitorDeloitte, or similar)
  • Experience engaging with Nigerian federal or state ministries, agencies, or multilateral offices; demonstrated experience navigating Nigeria’s federal and decentralized governance structures to support effective coordination and implementation
  • Fluency in additional languages
